What Should I Create My Publication About?

The first question of every first time book writer is "What should I write my book about?" If you want to write a book for your own satisfaction alone, feel free to write about anything that comes to mind.

But if you want to write a book that earns you income for months or years to come, I urge you to first find a market. So instead of focusing exclusively on the topic of your book, seek first the audience. Instead of asking what you should write about, consider who you should write your book for.

You want to find an identifiable and reachable group. More specifically, you want a group of people with problems and the ability and willingness to pay for a solution. Spot the problem (s) and then present the ultimate solution in the form of your book. This way you'reproviding what the marketplace already wants. The demand for a solution is there and you're simply providing it.

Find the market and then shape your book to suit what the marketplace wants. That's the best way to get off to a strong start and give you the best odds of success. If you're writing to make money, that's a proven approach to sure-fire success.

But you may be writing your book to build your career or position yourself as an expert in your field. In this case, write what you know. Share your vast experience by adding your unique insights.

Write about what you do for a living. It doesn't matter if you're a professional, office worker, skilled trades-person, or something else entirely. Whatever you do, you're probably pretty good at it. Are there others who couldbenefit by your inside knowledge? If so, you've found another possible writing opportunity.

How do you spend your spare time? Do you have a hobby or special interest? Perhaps it's skydiving, playing poker, or building wooden toys. Again, it doesn't matter. If you're interested in the subject, you have specialized knowledge and chances are there are plenty of other people with the same kind of interests.

Another approach is to write about something that is important to you. It could be protecting kids, preserving the planet, promoting vegetarianism, or protecting the civil rights we enjoy.

If it's important to you, you'll throw yourself into it, creating a great product. Spreading the word about your book helps make you an authority on the subject.

Write aboutsomething you would like to know. Seek out the answers you always wanted to know and then write about it. Seek first and then share what you learn. You'll be providing a service and making money--a definite win-win situation.

Darkness Fun

Are you looking for fun projects to do, but are short on supplies? The answer is simple: Shadows!

Shadow Tag

Turn an ordinary walk to the mailbox into a lively game of shadow tag. It's played much the same way as regular tags, except that instead of tagging a person, you tag the person's shadow.

Silhouettes

Use the combination of light and shadow to create frameable works of art. Use tacks or tape to hang a sheet of white construction paper or poster board to the wall. Sit or stand next to the paper so that the shadow of your profile shows up when a light (flashlights work well) is shined on you. While you sit very still, have someone trace the outline of your shadow on the paper with a pencil. Once the tracing is complete, cut the silhouette out with a pairof scissors and mount it on a sheet of black paper. Make several silhouettes of your family members and display them together.

Shadow Puppets

Who doesn't love shadow puppets? This is the perfect almost-no-materials-required activity for guaranteed fun. Simply direct light onto a wall (again, flashlights work great) and make shadows with your hands. Try some easy favorites such as a barking dog and a turkey with a droopy, dangly neck. Then invent shadow puppets you've never seen before just by moving and bending your fingers and hands in different positions.

Shadow Town

Imagination is a wonderful thing--especially when there is lots of sunshine around! Make your own shadow town by arranging small boxes, cans, and other small items into a straight line in directsunlight. Try doing this activity on a concrete driveway or on a large piece of paper or cardboard. Once the objects are lined up and casting a shadow, trace the outline of the shadow with sidewalk chalk to form your city's "skyline." When the skyline is finished, invite your friends to bring their toy cars over to play in your shadow.

How to Repair High Shine Hardwood floors surfaces Flooring Scores and Scuffs

Laminate flooring is enjoying unprecedented popularity because of its exceptional ability to resist fading, staining and deterioration due to normal wear and tear. When you add affordable prices and easy DIY installation to the mix, the result is a winning combination that is irresistible to consumers.

As great as today's high gloss laminate products are, however, they are not completely impervious to all minor damage. Over time, you might start to notice some scrapes and scuffs spoiling your floor's appearance, chiefly in areas that are frequented by pets and small children.

Fortunately, you don't have to pull up the blemished planks and replace them with new ones. Instead, you can repair high gloss laminate on your own using the following everyday items that youprobably already have on hand.
Pencil eraser. Skid marks left on laminate flooring by certain types of shoes and toys can often be removed by rubbing a pencil eraser over the area using gentle, circular strokes. In lieu of an eraser, you can use the rubber sole of a tennis shoe for the same purpose.
WD-40. While most folks are aware of the lubricating properties of WD-40, not many realize that it is also a terrific household cleaner. To remove scuffs from your high gloss laminate, apply a bit of WD-40 to a soft cloth and lightly scrub until the marks disappear. Be sure to wipe up the remaining lubricant with a wet rag to prevent any potential slip-and-fall accidents.
Baking soda. Baking soda is celebrated for having a multitude of uses, so it should come as no surprise thatit helps remove scuffs and scrapes from laminate flooring. Mix a couple tablespoons of baking soda with some warm water until you end up with a pasty substance. Next, use a cloth to dab paste onto the scuff marks and rub them away.
Toothpaste. If you don't have any baking soda at home, there's no need to run to the store. You can often get the same effect by using plain toothpaste to touch up your floor.

The methods listed above work best on light scuffs, scrapes, and skid marks. For deeper, more stubborn blemishes in your laminate flooring, you might have to turn to commercial cleaning products to get the job done. Many manufacturers now make nonabrasive cleansers especially for high gloss laminate, so you don't have to worry about damaging the finish.

Don't let minorscuffs and scrapes turn your floor into an unattractive mess. Instead, you can restore its natural beauty in no time by treating the problem using these simple solutions!

Girls Wedding Party Ideas (Ages 8-12)

Throwing a unique and memorable birthday party for girls aged 8-12 can be challenging. They are old enough to have outgrown the playground, but not quite ready for teenage activities yet. Here are several ideas to make sure your daughter's birthday will be a happy and successful event.

1. Roller or Ice Rink Skating Party-Your local roller skating or ice skating rink will likely have numerous birthday party packages to choose from. Typically, they have a party room that you can reserve with a host/hostess to run the party. The group of kids will normally get admission and skate rental, food, beverages, cake and ice cream, game tokens and more. Just check with your local rink for details.

2. Pottery Making Party-Pottery painting parties at a local pottery place are all therage. Many pottery places allow you to rent a private room for the birthday party where the kids get to make and take their own personalized plate or bowl. They normally ask that you bring your own food and decorations, but again it depends on the local place so call them directly for details. When they are done, each child can have their creation fired in the kiln for a permanent souvenir from the party.

3. Formal Tea Party-This is a great idea especially for the younger aged girls. The idea is that the girls dress up in their "Sunday best" (dresses, hats, boas, white gloves, etc.) and are served a real tea time. You can either transform your own home into a cafe or see if there is a local tea place that offers tea parties for girls. If you decide to do it in your own home, justset up some tables with white kids size fabrics and doilies, some fresh flowers and of course formal tea party ware. Serve the "tea" (juice) in a teapot along with finger sandwiches such as heart-shaped bologna and/or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. For a great finish to the party, make a teapot-shaped cake. Before or after tea time, you could have a little fashion show so that each girl can show off her beautiful outfit. Be sure to take lots of pictures.

4. Party-Some local Swimming pools will allow groups to reserve the entire swimming pool area for a short period of time. Normally, they provide a lifeguard and staff who keep an eye on the kids and run games such as water ring tosses. Normally, they'll have a party room that is adjacent to the changing areas/restrooms whereyou can set up decorations, snacks and cake.

5. Gymnastics Party-Try the local Gymnastics Academy to see what they offer. Often you can get some time for the kids with an instructor and then some time after for food and gifts.

6. Dance Party-Throw your own diva dance party at home or find a local dance studio that offers birthday parties for kids. The kids are transformed into dance divas and rock stars by doing their hair with brightly colored hair pieces, glitter and braids and then adding some cool make-up like sparkly glitter eyes, blush and lip gloss. Depending on the party music theme, you can have the party girls singing and dancing to your favorite music or birthday girls dances like the electric slide, freeze dance, etc. If you are having it at a studio, normallythey will have karaoke microphones, lots of music to choose from and props for the kids. Be sure to videotape their performances!
